When you call the Lawyer Referral Service, you will speak with an interviewer who will assist you in determining if you require an attorney, or if non-legal assistance better serves your needs. If a lawyer’s advice is recommended, an appointment can be made for you. There is a $50.00 administrative fee for the initial appointment. This entitles you to a half-hour consultation with the attorney. If you have been injured, this fee is waived.

If you are an adult or a juvenile charged with a crime in Solano County who cannot afford to hire an attorney, the Public Defender’s Office will be appointed to represent you. They represent people charged with crimes ranging from misdemeanors such as petty theft and DUIs to felonies including capital murder. They also represent individuals facing a loss of liberty due to involuntary psychiatric or civil commitments such as conservatorships.
